  • The Pioneer and the Founder of The Trust

Honorable and Respected Swami Atmanand Saraswati was the founder and pioneer of the trust namely Shree Tapi Brahmacharyashram Sabha. He basically belonged to Banaras. He graduated himself from the Allhabad University in science stream. He had a deep and thorough knowledge of the advancements of modern science. In addition to this, he was also well-versed with ancient Indian literature. After a prolonged wandering, he happened to enter the land of Surat in 1922 and made it his land of deed (Karmabhumi).

He had initiated delivering sermons and he also received good applause from the public. He fascinated the citizens of Surat city with his astonishing sermons on the Bhagvad Gita. He focused mainly on education, virtues and social reformation in his sermons. He was of the firm belief that education is the root and springboard of social transformation, but he was also of the view that the education should lead oneself to self reliance from being dependent on others and thus enable one to achieve higher goals. He highly emphasized on the concept of ancient education methods and thus wanted to develop such kinds of educational institutes where one can develop his all faculties: physical, mental or intellectual, spiritual and so and so forth.

  •  Establishment of the Trust

Honorable Swamiji encouraged and stimulated his devotees to great the extent. Thus, with the union of the goodwill of the public of Surat and continuous efforts of Swamiji, the Shree Tapi Brahmacharyashram Trust was established in 1924 on the beautiful bank of Tapi river near Varachha village. No student was charged for their study and boarding arrangements. Most importantly, there was no demarcation between rich and poor class.

The sermons of Swamiji evoked the devotees and made them aware of the current scenario. The innocent and down to earth people got stimulated. They all got instigated and found themselves encouraged to do something productive. They wanted to step forward in the direction of primeval education system.

Thus, with the union of the goodwill of the public of Surat and continuous attempts of Swamiji, the Tapi Brahmacharyashram Trust was established in 1924 on the beautiful bank of Tapi river near Varachha village. On the bank of this river, where people coming from rural as well as urban regions used to get together, the Ashram was established which later on proved to be the Holiday Home for urban people.

A small piece of land was purchased then and the establishment of Ashram got initiated. There were some small rooms already exisiting there in that Ashram. Some students were enrolled there on the same day of its establishment whose boarding arrangements were made ready.
